We are entering the home stretch of the boys' basketball and dance seasons.  If you have not taken the opportunity to watch our 7th and 8th grade dance teams perform, don't miss out on your last chance on the 3rd.  Mrs. Jeffery and the girls have been working extremely hard and the girls are performing at a very high level.  They truly are grace in motion.

Also, Tuesday is your last chance to work concessions for an SMS basketball game this year.  Please email me if you can help out.

I know it's hard to believe, but the 2nd trimester ended on Friday.  Our students will be celebrating their success and building community next Friday during an assembly. As we work through a school year, it's important to take the time to recognize all of the great things our students do.  It can be easy to fall into the trap of popular culture to characterize the middle school years as something to endure and survive.  My experiences with the amazing students we have at SMS suggest that the middle school years are something to embrace, celebrate, and cherish.  Our kids are awesome and thank you for sending them to us each day.

February 16th-21st

Another great week of activities lies ahead for SMS.  Dance pictures are being redone on Friday because of operator error.  Our girls deserve the best and apparently the photographer didn't bring his A-game the first time around so we are taking them again.  Students do not need to fill out another picture packet.  Those students who ordered pictures will receive the package they initially ordered.  If a student did not get individual pictures the first time around and would like to, they will receive a tracking number to order on line.

Speaking of orders, be sure to get your yearbook orders to Mrs. Claggett in the SMS library before March 11th if you want a yearbook.  There will not be any extra yearbooks available for those who don't pre-order.  If you are unsure if your student has ordered a yearbook, they can check with Mrs. Claggett in the SMS library throughout the school day.

Concessions

We are in the final push for concessions at SMS.  Outside of the Queen City Classic we only have four more home events that impact the concession stand.  Please contact me if you can assist.

• 2/19: 2 boys' basketball games beginning at 4:30
• 2/24: 2 boys' basketball games beginning at 4:00
• 2/28: Home Tournament 8-4:00 in 2-3 hour shifts 
• 3/3: 2 boys' basketball games beginning at 4:00
