Douglas Volleyball Games Canceled

The 7/8 grade  volleyball games versus Douglas have been canceled.  Douglas Middle School lost power and had to dismiss their students.  The games will not be rescheduled. 

All volleyball players will have practice right after school today from 3:30-5:00.

Activity Update

We've had some changes to our activities schedule as we continue to recover from the impacts of winter storm Atlas.  Please review the information below and contact coaches or the school if you have any questions.

Volleyball
The 7th and 8th grade games versus Douglas have been rescheduled for this Friday, October 11th.  The 7th grade teams (Silver, White, Maroon) will be traveling to Douglas.  The bus leaves at 2:00 and the first game begins at 3:45. The 8th grade teams (Silver, White, Maroon) are playing at the middle school and the first game begins at 4:00.

The 7th and 8th grade games versus Belle Fourche have been rescheduled for Monday, October 14th.  The 8th grade teams (Silver, White, Maroon) will be traveling to Belle Fourche.  The bus leaves at 3:45 and the first game begins at 4:30.  The 7th grade teams (Silver, White, Maroon) will be hosting Belle Fourche in the SMS Spartan Dome (our gym) and the first game also begins at 4:30.

I realize that next week is extremely full for the volleyball teams with our previously scheduled engagements and the make-up game on Monday.  However, we could either play the postponed games on Friday and Monday or not play them at all.  I made the decision to play them.

XC
There have been a couple changes in bus and event times for cross country.  The bus headed to Gillette this
Saturday will leave at 7:30 am to accomoadate a 10:00 start.  The meet was originally scheduled to begin at 11:00.

The Rapid City Middle School Invitational on Thursday, October 17th has switched times and location.  The meet will begin at 2:30 and will be held at West Middle School as opposed to the Executive Golf Course.  The bus will leave at 12:30.  Eighth grade runners will need to eat during 6th grade lunch.

Thank you for being understanding as we try and get our school and lives back on track.  I'm thankful that this storm happened early in the year so that temperatures, although uncomfortable, were not as life-threatening as they would have been in January or February.  I shutter when I think about the conditions those without power and heat during the storm would have faced if the outside temperature would have been 30 degrees colder.

Schedule Updates

Volleyball
The 7th and 8th grade volleyball games versus Douglas scheduled for today have been postponed to a date to be determined.   We are making every effort to reschedule the events that have been impacted by the weather.

Football
An 8th grade game versus Twin Spruce has been added for this Saturday, October 12th.  The 8th grade team will travel to Gillette with the 7th grade team who will be playing their previously scheduled game at 10:00.  The 8th grade game will begin after the 7th grade game is completed at approximately 12:00.  The bus leaves for Gillette at 7:30 am.

10/7 Volleyball Games Postponed

Due to the cancellation of school, the volleyball games scheduled for Monday, October 7th versus Belle Fourche have been postponed.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.

10/5 Football Games Cancelled

Due to the weather the 7th and 8th grade football games versus Belle Fourche scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled.
