SMS Activities Update

I hope you were able to see the great performances by the 7th and 8th grade dance teams last night!  The girls danced marvelously.  The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams were equally impressive in their wins over STM.  Next week features boys basketball and science fair with a 7th grade field trip mixed in.   Please see the weekly schedule below.

The first session of driver's education will begin on March 17th.  Students participating in track should take driver's ed at another time.  There are three other sessions offered that do not conflict with track practice. If a track athlete misses practice to attend driver's ed, they will miss meets.

Weekly Activities Update

Fresh on the heels of a great all school dance, there is another busy week ahead for SMS activities.  We have two nights of home basketball this week and the big 6th Grade Paper Bowl finale on Friday.  Of course practices, rehearsals, and assignments continue as per usual.  Please take five minutes this week to discuss time management with your student and remind them of the importance of being organized and making every minute of the school day count.

1.20.14 Activity Update

Please review the upcoming activity schedule for the middle school.  It looks to be another exciting week as boys basketball travels to Rapid City to take on our conference rival St. Thomas More and the 6th grade band and choir prepares to perform for the first time.  Friday should be an exciting time as the first all school dance of the year gets underway.  I'm sure all SMS Spartans are prepared to get jiggy with it, get their groove on, and have general good time.

Activity Update

Currently three activities are underway at SMS.  Boys basketball, dance, and drama all began immediately after the holiday break.  Practices and rehearsals are in full swing.  If you need to check on a practice or rehearsal time, please refer to the Practice Schedule. It can be found on my webpage which is linked to the SMS homepage.

Information can be found on Twitter as well.  Follow me @ODeaSMS.  I post schedule changes, scores, and other information as it becomes available.

Speaking of schedule changes, there are already changes to the 8th grade boys basketball schedule.  Belle Fourche does not have as many experienced 8th grade boys out as we do.  In an attempt to provide the best match ups possible, the 8th grade Maroon game versus Belle Fourche scheduled for February 20th will not be played.  The 8th White team will play two games in Belle Fourche on that day.  The 8th grade game versus Lead on February 3rd has been switched to a Maroon game to compensate for the loss of the Belle Fourche game.  The 7th grade schedule remains unchanged at this time.

We have a lot of students participating in activities right now, which is great.  Our numbers do require us to be flexible with scheduling at times to provide the most appropriate opportunities for our students as the surrounding schools do not have as many students participating in activities as we do.
