A busy week on tap

We have a very busy week ahead. Please review the weekly schedule and volunteer opportunities below. In addition to the full slate of activities, next week is the end of the first trimester. Students and staff have been working extremely hard and it's a bit frightening to think that a third of the school year is behind us. I'm very proud of all SMS students and what they have accomplished so already this year.

Next week is also the AdvancED review for the District. This is the accreditation process for our District and I'm looking forward to and outside perspective on our strengths and areas for growth. As a professional learning community, we operate under a philosophy of continuous improvement. The accreditation process is helpful in gauging what we can do better in support of student learning and identifying areas to celebrate.

Schedule Updates

Just a reminder, the 8th grade girls basketball games there were scheduled for today against Rapid City East were canceled last week due to a schedule conflict. They will not be rescheduled.

As of now, we are still planning to attend the Newell wrestling tournament today. If the tournament is canceled or road/weather conditions make attending the tournament unsafe, we will send out additional information.

Weekly Update

Both wrestling and girls basketball are in action again next week. The wrestlers travel to Newell for a tournament on Tuesday and girls basketball is headed to Sturgis for a triangular on Saturday. Pictures for girls basketball and wrestling are next week as well and school picture retakes are on Friday.

Friday is also the first dance of this school year. Seventh and eighth grade students are invited to get their groove on from 6:30-8:30 this Friday. Sixth graders have to wait until November 21st to get jiggy with it. Dances are a great time for students to interact with each other and have fun. All school policies and guidelines apply to dances. If you are interested in chaperoning please call the school.
