2/2/15-2/7/15 Middle School Update

A busy week of basketball and dance is on tap.  Keep in mind, if there is more than one basketball game on a given night, the second game will start after a 10-15 minutes after the first game concludes.  Listed start times for these games are approximations.

The 7th and 8th grade dance teams perform for the first time on Tuesday. Dance performances take place during halftime of basketball games.  Listed performance times are the start times of the basketball games.

Concessions

Boys Basketball Schedule Updates and Changes

The first week of February has changed a bit.  The 7th and 8th grade games in Lead on Monday, February 2nd will be played by the Maroon teams.  Originally the White teams were scheduled to play these games.  The change is being made to assure the most appropriate match ups for our athletes.

On Tuesday, February 3rd Rapid City West is coming to the Spartan Dome.  We will play two 8th grade games beginning at 4:00.  The opponent for these games were listed simply as Rapid City on the original schedule.

Finally, on the 7th and 8th grade games versus Rapid City Christian on Thursday, February 4th will be played in the SMS gym.  They were originally scheduled to be away games.  Rapid City Christian has home varsity basketball that night and is unable to host, so we gain a home game.

Concession Stand

The middle school concession stand is the main fundraising mechanism for SMS activities.  The funds raised pay for the end of the year activities banquet and awards, allow coaches to attend clinics to improve their practice, and cover needed items such as basketballs, track ribbons, and tournament supplies. Lately we've struggled to staff the concession stand.  For example, at last night's boys' basketball games, the concession stand had to close after the first game because no one was available. I send out a weekly email request and post the concession dates here.   If you are interested in helping out please email me to be added to the list.

1/19/15-1/24/15

The 7th and 8th grade boys' basketball teams see their first action next week.  We face STM on Tuesday and the Gillette middle schools on Thursday.  The 6th grade band and choir also perform in the high school auditorium on Tuesday night.  It's a great week to be Spartan.  If you are interested in helping out in the concession stand on Tuesday or Thursday, please email me.
